Who We Are & What We Do

Nurses and Nurse Pracitioners

We are a medical practice of board certified physicians and advanced nurse practitioners that specialize in geriatrics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and medical services for post-acute and long-term care residents.

Our practice was formed in 1983, by Dr. Thomas Prose, who had a vision to provide quality medical services exclusively as “On-Site” Clinicians and Medical Directors for sub-acute centers; long-term acute care hospitals; skilled, intermediate and long-term care nursing homes; residential care and assisted living facilities.

We are known for our exceptional caring clinicians, our responsiveness to our clients' needs, and our commitment to the relationships we have developed through the years. We embrace these values, all of which have helped General Medicine become the largest provider of medical director, attending physician and nurse practitioner services in the country.

Improving the lives of each and every resident we care for is our number one goal, and making a difference in each and every facility with which we partner, is our passion. We accomplish this by employing great clinicians, empowering them to provide great care and collaborating with each facility's staff, helping them to achieve the best outcomes for their residents. Together we provide optimal care for residents and enhance the operating and financial performance of facilities.

To ensure great care for residents, we provide regularly scheduled daily “On-Site” hours, comprehensive assessments, daily intervention, oversight and follow-up through a multidisciplinary team. Individual patients are visited based on their needs and medical necessity. Staff and family calls, requests for services and communication with other physicians and care givers are timely. We maintain a “Personal Touch” approach throughout our organization, and monitor services to ensure compliance with all regulations and standards. Most importantly, we do all this with a gentle, caring and empathetic staff that recognizes the complexity of today's geriatric and chronically ill patient.
