Thomas M. Prose, MD, MPH, MBA
Dr. Prose is our Senior Medical Director and President.
Dr. Prose founded General Medicine in 1983. He has over 30 years of extensive experience in internal medicine, geriatrics and healthcare administration. Prior to developing our practice, he served as the Medical Director for Cigna Insurance Company of Hartford, Connecticut, and he also served as a medical consultant and member of the board of directors to a number of organizations including federal and state agencies, insurance carriers and various healthcare systems. He has authored numerous healthcare articles and he has presented before the US Senate, HCFA, CMS, The National Cancer Institute, and the Association of Community Cancer Centers. He is a featured speaker of the American Geriatric Society as well as being a speaker for numerous other national, state and local healthcare societies and organizations. Topics he has presented include: Managed Care, Sub-acute Medicine, Joint Commission Accreditation, Medical Staff Credentialing and Organization, and the Prospective Payment System.
Dr. Prose received his Doctor of Medicine degree, as well as a Masters of Public Health, and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Michigan.

Patricia A. Gottschalk, MSN, APRN, BC, MBA
Pat is our Director of Clinical Operations.
Pat has been with General Medicine since 1994. Her primary responsibilities are to develop and lead our clinical and operational services in all of the geographic areas throughout the country where we have established local practices.
Pat has been in the healthcare field for over 35 years. She has been in nursing for 28 years and she has been a masters-prepared nurse for over 17 years. Her background includes practicing in critical care, sub-acute care and geriatrics. Pat has extensive experience as a nurse practitioner and as a clinical nurse specialist in these settings. She was a project coordinator for an innovative geriatric/nurse practitioner medical unit at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. She also is one of the past chairpersons of the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses of Michigan. She continues to serve on several national and state healthcare association committees and has authored numerous articles and has been a frequent speaker at various national, state and local nursing and healthcare conferences.
Pat has a Master's degree in nursing, a Graduate Certificate in Gerontology as well as a Master's in Business Administration. She also is Board Certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse in Gerontology by the American Nurses' Credentialing Center.

Thomas R. Hoetger
Tom is our Director of New Business Development.
Tom has been with General Medicine since 2003. His primary responsibilities are to identify and develop new markets, create affiliations and key relationships with facilities, providers, payors, health systems and regulatory agencies within those markets, and to create business opportunities for our practice.
Tom has over 30 years of extensive experience in healthcare management and business development. After receiving his degree at Hillsdale College, he practiced public accounting with Ernst & Ernst, one of the original “Big Eight” CPA firms. His specialization was audit and consulting services for healthcare clients. He then served in various healthcare organizations as a Controller, a CFO, a Director of Reimbursement, a Regional Operations Manager, a Vice President of Operations, a President/CEO, a Board Member, and as an Owner. These entities have included nursing home chains, institutional pharmacies, home infusion therapy, DME and home health companies, outpatient rehabilitation agencies, healthcare venture partnerships, and healthcare consulting companies. In the early to mid 90's, Tom helped develop a new delivery method in healthcare called home infusion therapies. Under his leadership as VP of Operations and then as a division President, this entity grew through many mergers, acquisitions and IPO's to become Coram Healthcare. In 1996, he and several physician partners developed one of the largest multi-specialty physician group practices in Indiana, and the largest provider of ancillary services to nursing homes in the Midwest. In early 2000, HCR Manorcare acquired the practice and Tom joined their senior management team to lead the company's Physician Practice Management Group. He served as the President/CEO until 2003.
Throughout his career, Tom has been identified as one of the country's leading authorities on compliance and reimbursement issues for post-acute and long-term care. He continues to serve on several national and state committees and has been a frequent speaker at various national, state and local healthcare conferences.

Scott Sansovich
Scott is our Director of Marketing and Recruiting
Scott has been with General Medicine since 1995. His primary responsibilities are to coordinate our national recruitment efforts for professional staff members and to negotiate their employment agreements. In addition, he is responsible for identifying and negotiating physician practice acquisitions, developing new client relations, and development of our marketing programs.
Scott has over 20 years of extensive experience in interfacing with physicians, hospitals and insurance carriers. After receiving his degree from Southeastern Louisiana University, he started his career in management and business development and served as a project manager, a marketing representative, a marketing manager, and as an owner of a service industry company. In addition, he co-authored a very successful “How To” manual on creating and operating a service business. Prior to joining General Medicine, Scott represented a National Surgical Instrument corporation, demonstrating surgical techniques utilizing specific surgical instruments in the operating room setting.
Scott continues to participate at various national, state and local healthcare conferences.
Our Clinical Coordinators
We have developed a key operational leadership position within our practice. That position is our Clinical Coordinator. Their function is to serve as our client liaison for each of the facilities in the local communities where we practice.
All of our Clinical Coordinators are Board Certified, Advanced Nurse Practitioners who have many years of experience caring for patients in post-acute and long-term care facilities. Each one of them is individually responsible for the training, supervision and oversight of our physicians and nurse practitioners in their respective geographic regions. In addition, they provide consultation and coordination of our services with our clients and affiliates. Our Clinical Coordinators are as follows:

Rebecca J. Coccia, MS, APRN, BC
Rebecca is our Clinical Coordinator for Louisiana, Michigan and Ohio.
Rebecca has been with General Medicine since 1993. Her primary responsibility is serving as a Clinical Coordinator and as a Nurse Practitioner. She has over 20 years of extensive experience in Geriatrics as both a clinician and as an educator. She has practiced in various settings including outpatient, acute, sub-acute and long-term care. She has served as a preceptor for students of several universities, authored numerous practice related articles and has been a lecturer for several Advanced Practice Nurse conferences. In addition, she has been an expert witness for the State of Michigan Board of Commerce, and is an active member in various professional organizations including the Michigan League of Nursing, the National Conference of Gerontological Nurse Practitioners and the American Medical Directors Association.
Rebecca received her Bachelors of Science from the University of Detroit, Mercy College and a Masters of Science in Gerontological Nursing from the University of Michigan. She also received a Graduate Certificate in Nursing Education and she is Board Certified as a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Carol Dickerson, MSN, APRN, BC
Carol is our Clinical Coordinator for Kansas, Central and Western Missouri.
Carol has been with General Medicine since 2007. Her primary responsibility is serving as a Clinical Coordinator and a Nurse Practitioner. She has over 20 years of extensive experience in Geriatric, Emergency, Internal and Family Practice Medicine having served as a clinician in various settings including outpatient, acute, sub-acute and long-term care. In addition, she has been a lecturer for several state and local nursing and healthcare conferences.
Carol received her Bachelors of Science from Marymount College and a Masters of Science in Family Nursing from Wichita State University. She is Board Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and she also has held certifications in ACLS, TNCC, and Emergency Nursing.

Marilyn K. Morgan MS, APRN, BC
Marilyn is our Clinical Coordinator for Central and Northern Illinois.
Marilyn has been with General Medicine since 1999. Her primary responsibility is serving as a Clinical Coordinator and a Nurse Practitioner. She has over 25 years of extensive experience in Geriatrics having served as both a clinician and as an educator. She has practiced in various settings including outpatient, acute, sub-acute and long-term care. In addition, she has authored numerous healthcare articles and has been a lecturer for several state and local nursing and healthcare conferences.
Marilyn received both her Bachelors of Science and a Masters of Science in Gerontological Nursing from the University of Michigan. She is Board Certified as a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Katherine Stieb, MSN, APRN, BC
Kathy is our Clinical Coordinator for Southern Illinois and Eastern Missouri.
Kathy has been with General Medicine since 2004. Her primary responsibility is serving as a Clinical Coordinator and a Nurse Practitioner. She has over 30 years experience in nursing with the majority of her career in Geriatrics and long-term care. She served 14 years as the Director of Nursing Services at the Madison County Nursing Home in Edwardsville, Illinois and also served as a clinician in various settings including outpatient, acute, sub-acute, and long-term care. In addition, she has authored numerous healthcare articles and has been a lecturer for several state and local nursing and healthcare conferences.
Kathy received both her Bachelors of Science and a Masters of Nursing at Southern Illinois University. She is Board Certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Also, she is a member of the American Diabetes Association and a member of Sigma Theta Tau.
